Stars to Shine in WA Schools

Stars will expand into Western Australia in 2021, with First Nations girls and young women at Newman Senior High School and Butler College in Perth being the first to take part in our intensive mentoring and support program.

Stars Founder and CEO, Andrea Goddard, says “We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to support the girls and young women in these communities as part of our expansion into WA.”

“We are already working in close collaboration with the community and the schools to identify the needs of the students, before commencing at the beginning of the 2021 school year.”

WA Education and Training Minister, the Hon. Sue Ellery, officially announced Stars’ expansion into the state at Newman Senior High School recently.

“I’m delighted the Stars Foundation program will provide mentoring and inspirational opportunities for Aboriginal girls at Newman Senior High School and Butler College so they can have every chance at success,” the Minister said.

“We want our Aboriginal students to be excited and confident learners who go on to their desired outcomes of further education, training or employment.”

“The full-time, onsite mentors who provide intensive daily support will help these young women become lifelong learners and achieve their goals.”

“I’m also pleased that Aboriginal boys at the school will benefit from a new Clontarf academies program from next year which will help them develop values, skills and abilities to complete school.”
