Oodgeroo Unit staff from Queensland University of Technology visited our Year 10 Thuringowa Stars to run a session about inspirational Indigenous women.
They encouraged the girls to think about what characteristics make a strong Indigenous woman and how they might work on building these characteristics within themselves.
Students then created an ‘Inspo Board’ to hang in their rooms, to remind them of the characteristics they are working towards developing and inspiring them to reach their full potential.
Stars Mentors used the session to encourage the girls to identify their goals and take advantage of any positive opportunities that come their way.
The young women then did some self-reflection and talked about how they see themselves now and how they want to be seen in the future.
It was great timing for the session, because these young women are in the process of deciding on their subject choices for Years 11 and 12.
