Pride in Culture

Three of our young Centralian Middle School Stars travelled out to Trephina Gorge for their Year 9 school camp recently.

Leshaye, whose family comes from the area – with the support of her two Stars sisters Regan and Nia – gave a heartfelt and proud speech about country and why the area means so much to her and her grandfather.

She also talked about her personal connection to certain parts of the area, and the importance of respecting and caring for country. Then she gave an official and heartfelt Welcome to Country to her Year 9 classmates and teachers.

In the Stars Room, we always talk about being proud of who you are and where you’re from and having the personal strength to stand up and speak about culture. Leshaye, Regan and Nia rose to the occasion and made us all immensely proud.
