Pursuing a Passion

Over the recent school holidays, one of our Queensland Stars completed work experience with the Magnetic Island Rangers team.

Elsie, in Year 12, is passionate about marine biology and was lucky enough to secure two days over on Magnetic Island working on a variety of tasks.

Although it wasn’t the right time of the season for the marine side of the work, Elsie says she had a fantastic experience.

The feedback from the Rangers she worked with was excellent: “Elsie was a fantastic addition, gave it 100 per cent, and was a pleasure to have in the work team. She followed directions and wasn’t afraid to try new things.”

After completing her work experience and thoroughly enjoying it, Elsie has asked to go back for a full week placement in the next school holidays.

A big thank you to Queensland Parks and Wildlife Magnetic Island team for hosting Elsie and inspiring her to continue her interest in a career in marine biology.
