About

Stars Foundation provides a holistic mentoring program that supports Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women to identify their goals and
reach their full potential.

The program is tailored to meet the unique needs of First Nations girls and young
women – with the aim of promoting positive education, employment and life
outcomes.

Established in 2015, Stars Foundation mentors and empowers thousands of First Nations girls and young women in primary and secondary schools operating across all mainland states and the Northern Territory.

Stars operates on a full-time basis within partner schools and from a culturally safe, nurturing environment in a dedicated ‘Stars Room’. This means that the girls and young women in the Stars programs can access the intensive support they need, when and where they need it.

The Stars Foundation focuses on four pillars during the school years designed to improve health and education outcomes. These include:

  • Education, Training and Employment – encourages active engagement in education and the development of positive plans for a successful transition into full time employment or further study
  • Healthy Lifestyles – addresses healthy habits for life including nutrition, self-care and personal hygiene, sport, and fitness
  • Wellbeing – focuses on personal wellbeing and mental health
  • Community, Culture and Leadership – celebrates First Nations culture and encourages activity within communities which develops confidence and pride.

The Stars model is underpinned by the latest research in education and public health, along with decades of experience working with First Nations students.
