Stop and Smell the Coffee

Some of our Thuringowa State High School Stars have been participating in Barista Training this term, under the expert tutelage of School Chaplain and awesome coffee-maker, Dan.

After mastering the coffee grinder, milk steaming and pouring, the girls put their skills to the test by taking orders and payments and serving coffee to school staff at their afternoon meeting. All money raised was donated to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

Last week, the girls also volunteered at a local primary school community event, where they served steaming coffees to all parents and teachers attending.

With a continuous line-up of orders, they definitely experienced what it feels like to be under pressure and learnt how important it is to work together as a team, especially in challenging situations.

Next term, the girls will continue to develop their coffee-making skills and share them with the community.
