Year 11 Heatley Stars were taken on an overnight camp recently as a reward for being committed to achieving their personal goals around attendance, commitment and hard work.
As part of the camp, our young women were taken to Townsville City Council, where they met some Indigenous employees and heard about the job opportunities available to them at the Council.
This was followed by some fun – but very messy – team building with a few rounds of hot and sweaty paintball!
Overnight accommodation was at Bushland Beach, where the girls cooked a delicious dinner for their Mentors and some school and other support staff.
Before bed, our Stars sat in a yarning circle with their Mentors to talk about what they are proud of achieving during this year and what they’d like to work on for next year.
Go for it you Stars – bring on Year 12!
