Jabiru middle years Stars learnt a lot about life and overcoming challenges this week when they had a visit from two inspirational local women who were generous enough to share some of their life experiences.
Deirdre O’Sullivan left her family in Ireland to travel across the world to Australia and is now living in Jabiru working at Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation. She told the girls how hard this was for her and how she overcame the challenges of moving to a new country so far from her home.
Emma Cameron spoke about her decision to take up marathon running and shared with the girls how, with dedication and persistence, she was able to push through the physical and mental obstacles to achieve success.
These kinds of real-life stories are inspirational for our Stars because they show them that they can do it if they make good choices, get an education and stay focused on their dreams!
