NAIDOC Week 2020

NAIDOC Week 2020 was a wonderful time of celebration and cultural pride among the students and staff in Stars programs across the country, despite being delayed by some months this year due to COVID.

The theme ‘Always Was. Always Will Be’ resonated strongly with our Stars, recognising as it does that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for more than 65 000 years.

Across our programs, students found a range of fabulous ways to celebrate their pride in culture, from painting and displaying stunning NAIDOC banners, taking part in cultural games and activities, and modelling Indigenous-designed fashion, to hosting a delicious lunch and bingo afternoon for local Elders!

NAIDOC 2020 invited all Australians – Indigenous and non-Indigenous – to understand and embrace the true history of this country and that the very first footprints on this continent belonged to First Nations peoples.
