A collaboration between Townsville Stars and Good Start Early Learning Centres has resulted in young women interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education gaining work experience placements, and one Stars graduate obtaining a Traineeship at a local centre.
Year 11 Stars, Iyeisha and Toly, both completed a week of work experience at a Good Start Early Learning Centre over the recent school holidays.
During their time at the centre, the young women were very hands on, joining in on games, helping feed babies, reading stories, and cleaning up after ‘little accidents’.
Iyeisha said that the placement confirmed her desire to pursue a career in the sector and has motivated her to complete her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education, while Toly said she loved the experience and especially (and to her surprise) enjoyed her time in the baby nursery!
Another success story arising from Stars collaboration with Good Start is that Stars graduate, Tamika, has recently commenced her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education Traineeship the Heatley Centre.
A huge thank you to Good Start for working with Stars to give these wonderful young women the opportunity to explore future pathways and pursue their dreams!
