Year 11 Heatley Stars got to see behind the scenes at Southern Cross Media in Townsville recently. This is the hub for Northern Queensland radio stations such as Hit and TripleM.
The students learnt about all the different job opportunities within a radio station, including promotions, sound editing, program host, marketing and sales – just to name a few.
Some of our Stars even got to record their own sound bites. Although they were a bit nervous, they had fun doing it and one of the girl’s shout outs to her Nana got played live on air (you can listen to it below)!
All girls said they were very surprised to see how much effort goes into making a radio show and were very impressed with how it all ran.
A couple even said that they could see themselves working in the editing booth creating the ‘sounds’ of the radio stations.
