Across Australia, Stars students are stepping into leadership roles, making history, and inspiring their school communities.
In 2026, Stars Foundation is celebrating a record number of students who have been elected as School Captains, Vice Captains, House Captains. Leadership is about much more than a title. It’s about setting an example, supporting others and creating positive change.
The growing number of Stars students being recognised by their peers and teachers demonstrates the confidence, resilience and commitment Stars students have developed through their educational journeys. Every student who puts themselves forward for a leadership position demonstrates courage, ambition, and a willingness to lead by example.
We are incredibly proud of all our Stars students who have embraced these opportunities and are helping shape brighter futures for themselves and those around them.
Alkira Makes History at Warrnambool College in VIC
One of this year’s standout achievements belongs to Stars student Alkira (pictured above) from Warrnambool College in Victoria, who has been elected as the school’s first Indigenous School Captain.
Alkira’s appointment marks a significant milestone for both the school and the wider community. Since joining the Stars program when it launched at Warrnambool College in April 2024, Alkira has demonstrated remarkable growth as a young leader and role model.

“I’m hoping we can make a lasting positive impact on the school, I want to do so many things,” said Alkira.
Stars Program Coordinator at Warrnambool College, Dominique De Bono, said the growth Alkira has shown since joining Stars has been extraordinary.
“Alkira represents the Stars values of respect, honesty, commitment, and pride within Stars and across the school community and we’re all very proud of her as she steps into this leadership role,” said Dominique.
Ruby Leads the Way at Robinvale College
At Robinvale College in Victoria, Year 12 Stars student Ruby (pictured above) has also proudly taken on the prestigious role of School Captain.
During her final year of secondary school, Ruby is leading her peers while continuing to pursue her own educational goals. Her appointment reflects the trust and respect she has earned within her school community.
The Stars team is excited to see Ruby continue to grow as a leader, inspire those around her, and leave a powerful legacy at Robinvale College.
Adelaide Students Recognised for Outstanding Leadership
South Australian Stars students are making their mark as leaders in their schools and communities.
Ella, a Stars student from Ocean View P–12 College (pictured above), has been elected as School Captain for 2026. Ella’s achievement reflects her commitment to her education, her school community, and her ability to lead with confidence and integrity.
We also celebrate Stars student, Tamzyn (pictured above), who recently received the prestigious Australian Defence Force Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award for Year 12.
This Award recognises students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, teamwork, and service to their community. Tamzyn’s recognition is a testament to her dedication, character, and positive influence on those around her.
Together, Ella and Tamzyn exemplify the strength, determination, and leadership potential of young First Nations women across Australia.
These achievements are a testament to the confidence, determination and leadership qualities embodied by our Stars students, and we are incredibly proud of both these young women and the positive example they set within their schools and communities.
Future Leaders at Chaffey Secondary College
Leadership opportunities are not limited to senior students.
At Chaffey Secondary College in Mildura, Victoria, two outstanding Year 10 Stars students, Joyce and Azaliyah (pictured above) are already making their mark.
Joyce was recently inducted as College Vice Captain, while Azaliyah was appointed Sporting House Captain. These appointments recognise their leadership potential, commitment to their school community, and willingness to step forward and contribute.
Both students have bright futures ahead, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they make throughout the year.
