2017 Graduates

Erin, a proud 2017 Graduate of Casuarina Secondary College in Darwin, has built a career defined by determination and commitment. Today, she works full-time in a dual role as a Lab Technician Fibre Counter and Receptionist at Site Environmental and Remediation Services (SERS), a company that plays a critical role in testing for asbestos in bulk materials, soils, and air.

Before joining SERS, Erin gained valuable experience as an Allied Health Assistant between 2021 and 2023. In this role, she worked closely with speech pathologists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, supporting professionals dedicated to improving people’s lives.

Looking back on her secondary school years, Erin credits Stars Foundation with giving her the strength, confidence, and encouragement to pursue her goals. She remembers the program as a tight-knit community where she always felt supported. One of her fondest memories was the Year 12 trip to Cairns, a celebration of hard work and shared achievement.

“The most important thing Stars taught me was that the effort I put into my schoolwork matters. I was tossing up on whether I wanted to complete my ATAR or not and I am grateful that the leaders at Stars guided me to do so,” said Erin.

“I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to commit to the schoolwork needed to complete my ATAR, but with the help from Keisha, Kylie, Dave, Sami, and a long list of others, I finished my schooling with an ATAR and it is the best decision ever. If they hadn’t of given me the support I needed in my schooling years, I wouldn’t have been able to be in the role I am today as a Lab Technician.
