2025 Graduates

2025 Stars Graduate, Mia, has been awarded an Indigenous Leadership Scholarship and an incredible opportunity through the Aspiring Koorie Teachers (AKT) Now Program.
Mia has been part of Stars at Chaffey Secondary College in Mildura, VIC, since Year 9. She continued her schooling journey at Mildura Senior College for Years 11 and 12, where she has grown into a confident and determined young woman.
This unique opportunity enables Mia to earn and learn, as she will work as an Education Support Staff Officer at Mildura Senior College while completing her Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support.
AKT Now supports First Nations peoples to work and learn as Education Support staff in Victorian government schools while they complete their teaching or educational support studies.
Mia’s involvement in the program means she will be supported for up to 18 months through paid employment as Education Support staff in a Victorian government school while completing their qualifications. She will also receive culturally inclusive supports and mentoring from qualified community mentors throughout their training and employment.
Mia’s journey highlights what dedication, resilience, and strong support can achieve, and she is excited for what lies ahead for her.
