2022 Graduates

Shanika attended Stars at Chaffey Secondary College from Year 7, continuing within the Stars program at Mildura Senior College where she proudly graduated Year 12 in 2022. Her fondest memory of Stars Foundation was the end of Year 12 trip to the Gold Coast.

While currently studying a Bachelor of Registered Nursing at Flinders University, Shanika is also working as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at an aged care facility.

“The best thing about Stars was the strong sense of support and belonging the Foundation fostered,” said Shanika.

“The Mentors genuinely cared about our success not just academically, but in all aspects of life, They kept me motivated, helped me stay connected to my culture, supported me through challenging times, and gave me the confidence to pursue my goals. Their guidance played a significant role in my journey to study Bachelor of Nursing.

“The most important thing the Stars experience taught me was to believe in myself. The Mentors constantly reminded us that we were capable of achieving great things, no matter the challenges we faced. That belief gave me the focus and confidence I needed to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse.

“If you are a young First Nations girl thinking about joining Stars, it’s important to  know that it is a place where you will be supported, valued, and empowered. The Mentors genuinely care about your success and will help you believe in yourself and your dreams.
