Taleisha Ahmat was one of Stars first Year 12 Graduates from Casuarina Senior College in Darwin in the Northern Territory in 2016. She proudly works as an Executive Assistant and Special Project Lead for a not-for-profit organisation.
“My current dual role involves providing administrative and strategic support to senior leaders by managing schedules, coordinating communications, organising meetings and travel, preparing documents, and acting as a trusted liaison with internal and external stakeholders, said Taleisha Ahmat.
“I also lead the design, coordination, and delivery of priority initiatives that sit outside standard business operations and focusing on culturally safe, and achievable programs for youth.”
Since finishing school, Taleisha worked as an Inclusion Support Officer while working in hospitality, then moved into a customer service role with the NT Government. She then transitioned into youth justice work which strengthened her interest in supporting young people, which led to a case manager role for a family services program.

The relationships shared with the girls during such a pivotal point of life. With Stars being introduced during my Year 12, it provided a safe outlet for myself to relax among my sisters and helped limit the stress that is Year 12. The lunch time feeds were also a hit alongside the intense games of table tennis!

The importance of sisterhood within our First Nations community. Bringing Stars into the school environment creates a safe space for girls, strengthens their sense of belonging, and supports school attendance and education outcomes. It also opens alternative education pathways that aren’t always recognised or supported in the mainstream system.
